Available Grants at Princeton University
A grant would be a free ride into Princeton University. However, grants are rarer compared to student loans. Student loans, unfortunately, need to get paid back after graduation. Paying back can be very tough when you are looking at almost $50,000 a year of tuition and campus room and board.
Princeton University is the first university to eliminate student loans among its offered financial aid options. It aims to reduce the chances of students getting deeply into debt before even graduating. This is a welcome change, especially to students from lower economic backgrounds. Instead of loans, Princeton University is offering grants, scholarships and even jobs for students. Grants are apparently friendlier towards would-be Princeton students who may be excellent students but cannot reach the required grades for most Princeton scholarships.
New Jersey grants for college
You could take advantage of New Jersey College grants to get into Princeton University. These grants are open to all college and graduate students who take residence in New Jersey. These students have to be US citizens, though. As for Princeton University, some of the financial aid programs that it offers to its students are open to everyone, even foreign students. Examples include the following:
Educational Opportunity Grants Fund – This program aims to offer higher education access to financially disadvantaged students living in New Jersey.
New Jersey’s Tuition Aid Grant – Requirements for this include proof of financial need, not enrolled in a degree in divinity or theology, and permanent resident of New Jersey for at least one year.
POW/MIA Dependents Grant – This program is meant for dependents of military personnel.
Grants can be great help to students who want to study at Princeton. However, awards from these grants may not shoulder the whole tuition. Sometimes, student jobs and student loans are still required. With the right financial aid package, going to college won’t be a heavy burden anymore.
